What Every Physician Needs to Know Online Curriculum Taskforce

ABM is launching a dedicated Task Force to transform the highly regarded What Every Physician Needs to Know (WEPNTK) curriculum into a rigorous, scalable, and globally accessible online educational program.

For years, WEPNTK has served as a cornerstone of ABM’s in‑person educational offerings. As part of ABM’s strategic commitment to innovation, accessibility, and expansion of online learning, this project will convert the existing 8‑hour in-person course into a CME‑eligible online product, designed to meet modern standards for competency‑based education and adult learning.

This Task Force will play a critical role in shaping the future of ABM’s educational portfolio and increasing access to high‑quality breastfeeding medicine education worldwide.

Role Overview

Purpose & Organizational Need:

The move to an online format supports several core ABM goals:

  • Expand global accessibility by removing geographic and financial barriers to participation.
  • Create a scalable, revenue‑generating educational product for long‑term sustainability.
  • Align with competency‑based educational standards expected in modern CME and L‑CERP programming.
  • Ensure consistent, validated content across both in‑person and online modalities.

This project advances ABM’s strategic priorities related to digital learning, clinical excellence, and organizational growth.

Scope of Work

  • Identifying and articulating the target learner audience.
  • Gathering competencies from relevant international standards and cross‑mapping them across existing lecture content.
  • Reformatting in‑person curriculum into online‑ready modules, including embedded assessments required for CME/L‑CERPs.
  • Creating a faculty communication strategy and guidelines to ensure consistent content across formats.
  • Recommending streamlined processes for speakers preparing content for both live and online delivery.
  • Working with ABM staff to build the course in the Learning Management System, including quizzes, evaluations, and tracking.
  • Collaborating with ABM staff to support rebranding, marketing, and product launch strategy.
  • Coordinating with the existing WEPNTK clinical team for ongoing content alignment and review.

Project Goals & Expected Outcomes

By October 2026, the Task Force will deliver a fully developed and launch-ready online version of the WEPNTK curriculum that includes:

  • A complete competency‑mapped framework
  • CME/L‑CERP compatible knowledge and performance assessments
  • Fully updated slides and learning resources
  • Professionally produced video modules
  • A complete course built within ABM’s LMS
  • A coordinated marketing and communication plan
  • A long‑term maintenance and update strategy

Time Commitment

This is a high‑engagement, time‑sensitive task force. Members should expect frequent meetings and active work cycles, especially during curriculum mapping, assessment creation, LMS build, and beta testing phases.

Benefits of Participation

Task Force members will:

  • Shape a foundational ABM educational product
  • Strengthen ABM’s global impact in breastfeeding medicine
  • Contribute directly to the expansion of online learning in the field
  • Collaborate with clinical and educational leaders across ABM
  • Advance their own experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and CME‑level education
