Call for Symposia

31st Annual International Meeting

October 13 – 15, 2026 | Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine invites proposals for symposia presentations at the 31st Annual International Meeting. New for 2026, symposia offer an opportunity to explore complex and timely topics in breastfeeding and lactation medicine through in‑depth, multidisciplinary discussion.

Symposia are designed to bring together multiple perspectives, foster meaningful dialogue, and advance clinical, scientific, and advocacy‑focused understanding across global contexts.

What Is a Symposium?

Symposia are thematic, 60‑minute sessions that feature multiple speakers addressing a shared topic. These sessions are intended to go beyond single‑presentation formats by encouraging synthesis, discussion, and audience engagement.

Symposia may include clinical, research, educational, advocacy, and systems‑level perspectives and should align with ABM’s commitment to evidence‑based, WHO Code–compliant programming.

Who Should Submit?

ABM welcomes proposals from a diverse, interdisciplinary community, including:

  • Physicians and physician trainees
  • Medical students and post‑graduate trainees
  • Registered dietitians, nurses, IBCLCs, and public health professionals
  • Researchers, educators, and clinicians engaged in breastfeeding and lactation medicine

Both ABM members and non‑members are encouraged to submit. Sponsorship by an ABM member is not required.

 Key Considerations Before Submitting

  • Symposia are in‑person sessions at the Annual Meeting
  • All presenters must register for the conference if selected
  • All symposia presentations must pre-record their session for inclusion in the enduring, on-demand content
  • All sessions must comply with the WHO International Code of Marketing of Breast‑milk Substitutes
  • Completed disclosure forms are required for all speakers and chairpersons at the time of submission

Proposals that do not meet these requirements will not be reviewed.

Important Dates

Submission Deadline: Monday, April 27, 2026 | 11:59 PM CDT (UTC‑5)
